Dear Roy, This is Manjunath Hiremath , I am so thankful to you for the article and info.
But, I have downloaded the components from cygwin, but I have been trying to find the gcc, c++ exe file in bin folder, but they have not been downloaded , as they are not seen,,, how to download them exclusively please let me know.

Hey Thuthuka, I’ve never encountered this error before, but it seems the error took place during compilation. In your code there are probably hard-coded paths, try changing them from “C:\…\…” to “C:/…/…”.

Hi Roy,

I followed your instructions but when I run the c application it produces the following error:

cygwin warning:
MS-DOS style path detected: /usr/bin/C:\Program
Preferred POSIX equivalent is: /usr/bin/C:/Program
CYGWIN environment variable option “nodosfilewarning” turns off this warning.
Consult the user’s guide for more details about POSIX paths:

Can’t find C:\Program on PATH.

BUILD FAILED (exit value 29, total time: 156ms)

What may wrong and how do I fix it?

Hey Karl Stone,

I’m not familiar with this error, but maybe you can download and run the tool depends.exe to see if all the dependencies for cygwin1.dll are located. Also try redownloading Cygwin, maybe use a different version, it could be that the dll file was damaged.

I am unable to start Cygwin. It keeps pulling up an error that says The procedure entry point cygwin_create_path cannot be located in the dynamic link library cygwin1.dll. What can I do to fix it?

My most humble appology.
With a little more discovery, I found the correct path for an include directory:
C:\cygwin\lib\gcc\i686-pc-cygwin\3.4.5\include\c++
Voila’ netbeans/cygwin now is operational on my x32 HP netbook(XP) and my Sony x86 running 7

In case you are curous — yes I am 74 years old, but have been a Computer Scientist/programmer of many, many computers and languages since 1959 and I still learn something new every day.
